Welcome to the official Scribe & Quill site! Established in 1997, Scribe & Quill began as an e-zine and website for writers of all levels and genres. Now we are also involved in social media, particularly Facebook. Be sure to join us over on the official Scribe & Quill community.
We want Scribe & Quill, regardless of the platform, to be a warm, hospitable place for writers, regardless of experience level. Aspiring and newbie writers are just as welcome as are multi-published writers. We all began as newbies, so we understand the importance of support and encouragement. Don't be afraid to ask questions! That's how all of us learn together.
A few reminders: First and foremost, I am the sole owner and publisher of Scribe & Quill. I've been at it for nearly 20 years (where has the time gone?). I make the final decisions about this site, the Facebook group, and anything else that has to do with Scribe & Quill. I'm friendly and flexible, but some things I will not tolerate (hate speech, abuse, trolling, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia, harassment, and a host of other unseemly behavior). If you believe you are being harassed by another subscriber or FB group member, please message me privately so I can rectify the situation. Everyone should feel welcome and comfortable.
Here a few important rules to remember:
**Please, no advertising in the Scribe & Quill Facebook group – unless it's about your book release, writing sale, contest win, or writing-related promotion within the publishing industry. It's not the place for promoting sunglasses, tennis shoes, or items unrelated to writing and publishing.
** Please do not post Causes petitions. There are places for such petitions, but our FB group is not an appropriate venue.**
**Scribe & Quill is NOT the place for political or religious posts and/or opinion. These types of posts will be removed immediately. Again, make sure you keep to discussions that involve writing, editing, books, and the publishing industry.**
**Scribe & Quill is not a critique group. However, you may post to ask if anyone is willing to critique your work. When doing so, be sure to include your contact info. We do not run active critique sessions, though. If you have a poem or another piece of writing you want to share with us, feel free to post a link to it. Please note that posting anything in any of our forums or on our FB group is not an acceptance or indication that you've been published by Scribe & Quill.
That's it for now! Still have questions? I'm delighted to answer them! E-mail me at scribequill@gmail.com with SCRIBE & QUILL in the subject line. Please allow at least 24 hours for a response on weekdays. If you e-mail me over a weekend, it's likely you won't receive a response till the following workweek.
Welcome and thanks for joining us!
Bev Sninchak (also writing as Bev Walton-Porter)
